In the 13 years since the A100’s inception, Alberta’s tech ecosystem has evolved dramatically. The technology industry in Alberta has now gained solid footing, and as we look forward to the inevitable maturing of this ecosystem, we recognize the exciting opportunity to expand the A100 throughout Western Canada as we reaffirm our commitment to championing economic diversification and growing a community of acclaimed tech and innovation leaders.
It’s through this lens that we’re thrilled to share that the A100 Community is now welcoming members from British Columbia and Saskatchewan! This is a significant milestone in the A100’s journey, and we are delighted to onboard members from these regions into our vibrant community of outperforming tech and innovation leaders.
An inherent value of the A100 Community has always been to foster collaboration, networking, and knowledge-sharing among like-minded individuals who are passionate about technology, innovation, and economic diversification. Broadening our footprint will allow us to do just that on an even larger scale and make an even greater impact for our Members and communities.
“As founding Chair of the A100 more than a decade ago, I see the valuable role we played in a nascent ecosystem, and even more clearly I see in 2024 an opportunity for us to step up to a larger role in the mature knowledge economy that is taking root across Western Canada.
A “startup” is not a one-and-done to celebrate. It’s a continuous pursuit of mastery in building globally competitive, at-scale businesses that drive our community forward. Great founders today—whether starting out, with one exit under their belt or three—are unified by this commitment to master the evolving practice of startups.
The A100 is the key place for me to exercise this practice; as founders at all stages in the journey to learn from each other, and through our collective trials, successes and failures.” – Shawn Abbott, Co-founder, Inovia Capital
As we embark on this new chapter, we’re grateful to our A100 Community for their ongoing support, contributions and enthusiasm in this exciting journey. Here’s to an even brighter future for A100 Members, our communities, and Canadian tech + innovation!
